Where Do You Get Your News?

We can all agree that where we get our news from is very different from a couple years ago. One of the biggest differentiators in this day and age is social media and the important part it plays in our everyday lives. For me, Twitter has been my main source of news for the past couple of years. Here’s why:

  1. Short, sweet and simple – With busy schedules and little time to ourselves, catching up on the latest news can sometimes be a hassle if you have to turn on the TV and listen to all the details about one single story. However, Twitter keeps it short and sweet and recaps the topic of the story in a few simple words. If you’re interested in reading more about it, then you click on the tweet. If not, keep scrolling.
  2. Accessibility – We don’t always have a television in front of us or the newspaper lying around so when it comes to accessibility, Twitter is at the top of the list. With our phones in reach for most of us, we don’t have to go through a lot of trouble to get our news fix for the day.
  3. More in less time – When you compare the time it takes to get through the news on TV to how fast you can catch up on the latest on Twitter, it’ll blow your mind. Reading a quick synopsis of the news is a more efficient method than sitting in front of the TV for 30+ minutes.
  4. More sources – By relying on Twitter to provide the latest news, you’re opening yourself up to a wider variety of news outlets that you can access at the same time. Whether you want to follow CNN and Fox News at the same time or only follow local stations, you’re able to tailor your newsfeed to what you want and whom you want to hear from.

There’s no wrong or right way to catch up on what is going on in our world. However, from personal preference and observation, Twitter is amongst the greatest sources for news and more and more outlets are turning to this app to keep their viewers and readers caught up.
