What’s Galentine’s Day?

Even though Galentine’s Day was started from a sitcom, it’s a holiday that should be added to everyone’s official calendars. What’s Galentine’s day, you ask? In the words of its creator, the super awesome Leslie Knope, “Oh, it’s only the best day of the year.”

Held annually on February 13th, Galentine’s day is the pre-Valentine’s celebration of female friendship. It’s a day to celebrate the ever-so-strong bond that women share. Here are tips on how to make your Galentine’s Day celebration be the best one this year.

Food

While Leslie celebrates Galentine’s day with breakfast, you should make your day about your favorite foods! As an avid Parks and Rec fan, I know how Leslie survives on waffles and whipped cream. And who doesn’t love breakfast food? Stick with what you know (and love). Your Gal’s day celebration might be brunching away, having a picnic in the park, going out for dinner, or having a slumber party. Make it your own!

Friends

So it’s easy to invite all your best girlfriends, we all know that. But how about you pull a Leslie and branch out further? Share the love! Extend the invite to your female colleagues, workout buddies, even your mom! Especially your mom. Women around the world need to celebrate!

And Good Times

How do you and your girls commemorate a good time? Is it a photo fest? Or do you like to create? Maybe y’all want to share a special gift! Get creative! It doesn’t need to be a gift bag with a bouquet of hand-crocheted flower pens, a mosaic portrait of each of your friends made from the crushed bottles of their favorite diet soda, and a personalized 5,000 word essay of why they’re all so awesome. Unless you’re Leslie Knope.
