The Ultimate European Packing List

Booking the dream vacation to Europe is thrilling, exciting, nerve-racking and everything in between. From purchasing flights and selecting the right hotel in a safe location to figuring out which attractions and bars you want to check out, it’s exhausting planning an overseas trips. If you’ve done all of the above and you’re at a point where you need to figure out which items you must pack and which ones you should leave at home, I have a few suggestions listed below that should make this tedious task a little less painful.

Flexible Clothes – By this I mean clothes that can be used in several different ways, like wearing it to check out a local monument and then dressing it up to wear to a nice dinner. My friend also mentioned packing clothes that can be layered. Temperatures across Europe tend to vary quite a bit from day to night, so pack light white t-shirts, sweaters and similar items that you can easily put over something else.

Walking Shoes – Hear me out. I get it that going to Europe means we ditch our yoga pants and Nike sneakers for something chicer and more stylish, but you have to be reasonable with yourself. A European trip means you will be walking for miles! There are also cobblestone roads that we may not be used to. That’s why packing a minimum of two comfortable walking shoes is highly recommended.

Sunscreen – Like I mentioned above, most Americans visiting Europe find themselves walking around their destinations for most of the day. Packing sunscreen in your suitcase is one simple way to ensure you’re ready to have a great day exploring the new city without a painful sunburn.

Tumbler – With this amount of walking, you’ll want to have water handy to stay hydrated. While water bottles will get the job done, I recommend opting for a tumbler that will keep your water colder for longer periods of time and that you can easily refill throughout the day.

Travel Plug Adapter – I almost forgot about this one! Europe has its own outlet shape, which can also range by country. So, do some research ahead of time and figure out which adapter will be the best one for you to pack. Without it, you won’t be able to charge your phone, laptop or electronics that you’ll be using throughout your trip.
