The Best Non-Alcoholic Alternatives to Sip on During Dry January

You’ve decided to reel in the drinking and start the new year giving your body a detox. It’s a good idea if you feel like you needed it after a busy season full of holiday dinners and parties, but nobody said it’d be easy.

If you’re like us who have a hybrid work model, it’s hard to pass up on going out for a good happy hour on those days you’re finally together in the office with your work besties. The question is, how do you stay committed to dry January on those days? Well, now there are more options of zero-proof drinks than ever before! Even Total Wine has an entire section dedicated to non-alcoholic drinks – score! Here are a few I’ve tried (and no, it’s not because I’m doing Dry January).

  1. Soda & Limes: It’s refreshing and you’ll trick your mind into thinking you’re having a vodka soda – just healthier!
  2. Virgin Bloody Mary: You’re always given two options – a bloody Mary or mimosa. Do a virgin bloody Mary and add as many garnishes as you wish, such as a celery stick, limes and dill pickles.
  3. Non-Alcoholic Cava Sparkling Wine: I bought this at a local liquor store for a friend that was pregnant and I’ll just say we couldn’t tell the difference between this and actual champagne.
  4. Non-Alcoholic Beer: Mango Cart has a super refreshing, zero alcohol beer that’ll make you rethink sipping on the one with alcohol and the calories that come along with that. Many restaurants have started to carry this beer in recent years, giving you something else to choose from that’s not Heineken 0.0.

We’ve come a long way in non-alcoholic drink options. People give up drinking for many different reasons and whatever your motive for doing so this month, know you’re not alone and you can still have a blast out with friends holding a drink in hand without feeling left out.
