Yes, Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday because it’s all about food and family. Let’s get this straight, mac and cheese simply tastes better on Thanksgiving day. I don’t know how or why but I’m willing to conduct experiments, if necessary.
My family has never stuck with a single Thanksgiving tradition, besides watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. I’m here to break that lack-of routine! For the past two years, my husband and I have taken over Thanksgiving, with our turkey hats and dog bandanas. We are bringing the festivities back to this delicious holiday. Below are my top three tips for the most delicious Thanksgiving experience.
1. Deep Fried Turkey
Oh yes, we deep fry our turkey. Actually, we deep fry TWO turkeys. One is for us and our growing family. The other one goes to the hospital my husband works at. They love it, we love it. It’s officially a tradition of ours. Please, be careful! That fryer is hot AF.

2. Smoked Mac and Cheese
Obsession numbero dos is obviously macaroni and cheese. Have you met me? We have a Traeger, which is a fancy smoker. We tend to make a lot of mac and cheese, but we don’t share this one. It’s all about the leftovers here.

3. Mashed Potatoes
Mashed potatoes are not all the same. The tradition here is slightly different: we try a new recipe every year! Last year, we had smoked gouda and cheddar mashed potatoes. And while I’d LOVE to pull a repeat (seriously, it was so good), we have a tradition to uphold. This year, we’re involving the smoker again for a delicious and still cheesy: Smoked Garlic Mashed Potatoes.
