Summer Watch List: 10 Must-See’s and 5 Should-Skips

It seems like every day a new TV series debuts, and unless you don’t have a job and spend all hours of the day binging (in which case I am VERY jealous of you), chances are you’re having trouble keeping up. And your watch list will almost double if you’ve recently decided to find “cable in my area” because they have even more options for you to choose from. With so many streaming services and so much content to watch, it seems like we all have to dedicate a good portion of our time to catching up in order to be in-the-know on the latest must-watch series everyone is talking about. That said, with limited hours in the day, it can be extra frustrating to waste several hours watching a show that turns out not to be all that great (yes, I know this is the definition of a #FirstWorldProblem, but it’s valid nonetheless).

On that note, I’ve compiled a list of 10 must-see series for the summer as well as called out five shows that you can skip without feeling guilty about it. Happy watching J

MUST-SEE TV

  1. Big Little Lies, HBO
  2. The Handmaid’s Tale, Hulu
  3. When They See Us, Netflix
  4. Barry, HBO
  5. Stranger Things, Netflix (newest season premieres July 4th)
  6. Euphoria, HBO
  7. Chernobyl, HBO
  8. Dead to Me, Netflix
  9. Watchmen, HBO (premiering this August)
  10. The Real Housewives of New York City, Bravo

SHOULD-SKIP TV

  1. Black Mirror, Netflix (at least the most recent season, old episodes are still well worth a watch)
  2. The OA, Netflix (I’m all for weird stuff, but this one takes it too far)
  3. What/If, Netflix (not even Renee Zellweger can save this mess)
  4. Game of Thrones, HBO (if you didn’t catch the final season, consider yourself lucky. Pretend the series ended on season 7 and hope the books redeem the show if they’re ever released)
  5. The Bachelorette (sorry, with every episode clocking in at two hours and this season’s star a 24 year old who can barely form complete sentences, allocate your watch time elsewhere)
