Earlier this month, Lauren and I had the pleasure of attending home-service giant Neighborly’s annual Reunion in San Antonio, Texas! With more than 20 service brands within Neighborly’s portfolio, and 2,200 franchise owners and corporate team members in attendance, Reunion was all about hearing the latest initiatives from the corporate team and re-connecting with fellow franchisees. This year’s theme was “Getting Neighborly” and focused on breaking boundaries as a system for 2019 and beyond!
Our 3-day trip was jam-packed with informative sessions from top Neighborly execs like CEO Mike Bidwell, CMO Lisa Zoellner and the legend herself Dina Dwyer-Owens, along with a keynote session with John DiJulius about revolutionizing customer service. The topic was quite fitting as Neighborly has definitely revolutionized the home service industry within such a short amount of time, and it’s exciting to have the opportunity to be part of the team!
So, what does “Getting Neighborly” mean? It’s exactly what you think – the idea of connecting with other local Neighborly business owners and finding a way to work together, and ultimately helping your tribe succeed! Not only can this mindset work from a business perspective but in all aspects of life, too (friends, family, etc.) This motto was heard throughout the weekend and as a first-time attendee, it was really awesome to hear first-hand stories from business owners across the nation as to why they love what they do and how they can’t wait to come together with other Neighborly franchisees to take their business to the next level.
You know what else was next level? The ‘Having Fun in the Process’ Casino Party (in case you don’t know, ‘Having Fun in the Process’ is part of Neighborly’s Code of Values) and yes, when people say “Everything’s bigger in Texas,” it’s true! The Neighborly crew went all out and transformed the convention center into our very own casino, complete with card games and a dance floor right in the center of it all. It was great! I did practice a little using sites like https://www.paybyphonebillcasino.uk/ so that I was on my A-game because I wanted to win just as much as everyone else! As I recently just moved to Dallas, it was only fitting to have Neighborly’s AWESOME Communications Team teach me (and Lauren) how to properly line dance and do the Cotton Eye Joe 🙂
In typical Fish fashion, we extended our ‘Having Fun in the Process’ during our time in San Antonio and solidified our love for Neighborly with tattoos! While these tats only lasted for 24-hours, the memories and connections made during Reunion will forever go down as one of my favorite client trips.
