Introducing Choolaah: Fine-Casual Indian Restaurant Taking Industry by Storm

One of the perks of working at a PR firm with clients in the food and beverage industry is being able to immerse yourself in some really innovative brands with key differentiators. In early January, some of our Fish team members had the opportunity to visit our new client Choolaah’s brand new location in Westlake, Ohio.

Choolaah is a fast-casual Indian chain concept that offers a healthy and fresh take on ancient tandoor cooking methods and authentic approach to Indian cuisine. While there are plenty of ethnic fast-casual concepts ranging from Chinese and Italian to Mexican and more, one we often don’t hear about is Indian – which is part of what makes Choolaah such a unique and attractive concept compared to other new brands out there! They’re filling the gap in the marketplace and breaking myths associated with Indian food (too filling or too spicy) by introducing the American public to authentic, accessible, homestyle Indian cuisine.

With handcrafted dishes including the fresh-baked naan prepared in a custom-built tandoor clay oven within the open kitchen, Choolaah’s menu features flavorful and customizable bowls, a variety of wraps, and street food like samosa chaat and pav bhaji (one of our Fish favorites is the salmon, but you can’t go wrong with any of the protein options offered at Choolaah). Recipes use house-made proprietary ground spice blends that not only taste good but have been revered for centuries in India.

Currently, the fast-casual Indian chain concept has seven locations across the Northeast and Midwest, with plans to grow across various regions of the U.S. And, as mentioned at the beginning of this piece, they recently opened their Westlake, Cleveland location – which debuted its new modern restaurant prototype that was created to enhance the customer experience. The prototype will be used in all of the future Choolaah locations, and includes a “Choo-lane,” a drive-through pickup window for orders placed online or via the Choolaah app, self-ordering kiosks and modern, local artwork, and more.

So, for those who love Indian cuisine or are looking to test the waters in 2024, Choolaah is your new go to destination! To learn more about the brand, head to their website below.
