Here’s Why “Slow Travel” Should be on Your Bucket List This Year

There are all sorts of different travel styles. For some, vacation means going to a new city, walking around for 6+ miles, and squeezing in as much as possible. For others a laid-back vacay on the beach is more their speed. This year travel experts say popular opinion is leaning more towards unwinding and relaxing – many referring it to as slow travel.

Slow travel is about taking it as the name says…slow, forgetting about creating a detailed itinerary and not stressing about making sure you hit every landmark where you’re vacationing. This way of traveling also encourages you to disconnect and move at a pace that doesn’t feel frantic.

Some ways to embrace slow travel include…

  1. Booking a spa appointment at the hotel you’re staying or a highly recommended spot nearby
  2. Avoiding crowded + touristy spots (i.e. Rome, London, New York, etc.)
  3. Unplugging from social media
  4. Sleeping in
  5. Doing the bare minimum

So this summer, get lost in the city you’ve traveled to and take it slow. There’s no need to be booking super early flights or excursions that’ll stress you out about making it on time. We already do a lot of stressing on in our day-to-day lives. Remember why you took PTO in the first place and fully embrace the days off.
