I have a confession to make: I love Halloween, but I hate anything even remotely scary. I still have PTSD from when a boyfriend in college made me see Paranormal Activity and promised it wasn’t that scary (spoiler alert: IT IS). Considering it’s 2020 and we’re all basically living a horror movie that we can’t escape on a day-to-day basis, I have a feeling that I’m not the only one whose not in the mood for more fear this Halloween season. If, like me, you’re exhausted of being scared after 7 months of living through a pandemic and multiple global catastrophes, you’re in luck – I’ve compiled a list of my favorite Halloween movies that aren’t scary (yes, I recognize they’re mostly kids movies, but as a 90’s kid I’m a sucker for nostalgia).
- Hocus Pocus (obviously the classic, I have watched three times already since October 1st, and I write this on October 5th).
- Halloweentown (clearly you’re gonna need to invest in the $5.99 for a Disney+ subscription if you want to follow my list).
- The Nightmare Before Christmas
- Casper
- Coraline
- Practical Magic
- The Addams Family
- Corpse Bride
- Rocky Horror Picture Show
- Beetlejuice
