Anyone who works in the franchise industry knows the International Franchise Association’s (IFA) Annual Convention is the Super Bowl of franchising. And anyone who works in PR knows you often have to leverage current events to land national coverage for your clients.
As one of the IFA’s PR agencies, we made it our goal to get national broadcast media to attend Convention — an unprecedented task but here at Fish, we’re always up for a good challenge.
With Donald Trump’s presidency dominating the media scene, some might have considered this a lost cause (or, at the very least, overly ambitious), but we saw it as a great opportunity to insert the IFA into a national conversation about the new administration and its potential impact on franchising. By offering up interviews with several restaurant CEOs and IFA board members, we secured a Fox Business segment on the optimism surrounding Trump’s labor policies as they relate to the franchise industry. The live broadcast included insight from David McKinnon, vice chairman of the IFA’s Franchise Education and Research Foundation, as well as c-level executives from Auntie Anne’s, Corner Bakery, Edible Arrangements and Tropical Smoothie.
