Embracing Autumn’s Gentle Touch: Fall in South Florida

We made it folks! The first cool weather weekend has made it to south Florida! When most people think of fall, they conjure up images of leaves turning fiery hues, cool, crisp air, and pumpkin-spiced everything. However, not in Florida… except for the pumpkin-spiced everything. We had that covered back in September. But if you find yourself in the sunny state of Florida during the autumn season, you may wonder if fall even exists in the Sunshine State. It does, in our own unique South Florida way.

One of the most noticeable differences when experiencing fall in South Florida is the weather. It’s not sweltering hot!! While much of the United States is beginning to bundle up in sweaters and scarves, us Floridians are still enjoying beach days, warm sunshine and taking in that cool breeze (finally). The average temperature in South Florida during the fall months hovers between the mid-70s to low 80s, making it an ideal destination for those seeking to extend their summer.

With the comfortable fall weather comes my favorite part: Outdoor seating! You can enjoy outdoor dining without worrying about sweltering heat or summer rain showers. My favorite restaurants and bars along the intercoastal are ideal at this time of year.

We also tend to have a drop in tourists. With the peak tourist season just around the corner, you can take advantage of this quieter period without the usual snowbird travelers. Whether you’re visiting the Everglades, the stunning beaches, or the vibrant cities, you’ll have more room to breathe and actually appreciate the beauty of the region without the crowds.

And we may not have the typical fall festivals you’d find up in the north, but we make up for it! Floridians enjoy events such as pumpkin patches, Halloween-themed activities, and even Oktoberfest celebrations.
