I got a good laugh this morning when I read a story from PR Daily that Domino’s Pizza is hiring a Chief Garlic Bread Taste Tester in Australia.
Yes, it’s a real gig, albeit a one-day stint in which the new hire would spend a day at Domino’s headquarters is Brisbane, Australia, “sampling our delicious garlic breads and other products (including a sneak peek at what’s coming up) and provide important feedback to the team — all while being paid!”
LinkedIn is usually a bit stuffy given its focus on careers and professional networks, so I loved seeing something creative and focused on consumers.
The job posting is a lighthearted, tongue-in-cheek list of qualifications like “never met a carb they didn’t like” and “minimum of 5 years’ experience in garlic bread consumption.”
The pay is a respectable $30/hour for 7.5 hours, with lunch included (pizza, of course), and return domestic flights and one night’s hotel accommodation if the successful applicant is not within driving distance of Brisbane.
Domino’s is asking applications to complete a survey and tell them in 200 words or a 30-second video why they’re the perfect candidate.
Applications closed Oct. 7 — and right now I’m very bummed I’m too gluten intolerant to spend 7.5 hours eating breadsticks. (I’m maxed out at 30 minutes of continuous consumption.)
