If you’re like me, your Instagram and Pinterest feeds are full of foodies, blogs and magazine accounts sharing and reposting recipes and how-to videos. I grew up with parents that cooked dinner every night so naturally, I am going to be just like them now as an adult. Cooking is actually a passion of mine. I enjoy making fresh meals for my husband and I on the weekdays. Even if it’s been a tough day, cooking allows me to disconnect and focus on something else that I truly love. For those of you looking to make more of an effort in the kitchen this year, here’s a list of cookbooks and blogs I use on the regular for inspiration.
Half Baked Harvest – You’ve probably seen Tieghan Gerard, the author of Half Baked Harvest, on Instagram. Her wholesome and comforting recipes are hard to pass on and her pictures alone will make you hungry right on the spot. The elevated-grilled cheese recipes, coconut milk braised chicken with sweet potatoes, baked gruyere in pastry with rosemary and garlic, and the creamy white lasagna soup are some of the most recent recipes I’ve given a try that we have fallen in love with and you would too! To access her recipes, follow her on Instagram or go to her website www.halfbakedharvest.com. Her cookbooks are also a must-have in the kitchen!
Pinch of Yum – This online food blog has a great selection of recipes to choose from. No matter how picky you or those at home might be, there are a handful of recipes that fit the needs and likings of every single one of us. You can choose from vegan, quick and easy, and healthy recipes. This coming week, we’ll be giving the Instant Pot spicy short rib noodle soup a try, as well as cooking one of our favorites the cilantro lime chicken and lentil bowls. To check out these recipes for yourself, follow Pinch of Yum on Pinterest or go to the blog.
PureWow – One of my go-to outlets for recipes is Purewow.com. Once a week, they do an online story that has seven recipes you can add to your calendar. What’s best is that at the start of the online article, they have a grocery list with the ingredients and items you’ll need to have at home to complete the recipes. They even break it down into categories, including produce, meat, dairy, grains, packaged / canned goods, and pantry ingredients. Check out past articles for inspiration here: https://www.purewow.com/food.
Hope this helps you plan what you’ll be cooking this week! While there are thousands of websites and social media accounts that share their “best of the best” recipes, I suggest picking your top three favorites and leaning on them for inspiration, as sometimes it can be overwhelming to try everything that’s on the internet.
