Comfort Food Movies & Shows

It’s November 4th, meaning I’m currently trying to emotionally and mentally recover from the sh*tshow that was the 2020 presidential election, and have no doubt many of you are as well. I know we were all hopeful that our country could come together and somehow pull off a normal, balanced election where there was a clear winner at the end of the night and a definitive answer on the direction our country was heading in – but also, who were we kidding? It’s 2020. Hope for the best and expect the absolute, hellish, nightmarish worst is pretty much the name of the game this year kids. Buckle up because we’re heading into the series finale of America and much like the Game of Thrones finale, regardless of who wins we’re pretty much all gonna lose.

Food is always an excellent source of comfort in these troubled times, but if, like me, you’re not trying to roll into 2021 45 lbs heavier due to quarantine/social injustice/election anxiety-induced binge eating, there’s also another option: turn on your TV and binge on comforting entertainment instead. Typically I love a good true crime show, the more murdery the better, but recognizing that my heart rate really can’t handle any more stress, I’ve put together a viewer’s guide to the best shows and movies to help you unwind and forget the world is on fire (at least for an hour or two).
