Let me start off with complete honesty: I do not have a green thumb. Therefore, I must select plants that are sturdy, strong, and most importantly, tough to kill. It’s beyond frustrating, and a waste of money, to buy that nice plant for your patio or porch, invest in a pot, lovingly add soil and your plant — and then have it shrivel up and die on you. I’m a true victim of this. I’m here today, so share my knowledge of which plants to pick and how to keep them alive (hint: water).
Ferns
Seriously, I love ferns! They look luscious and happy all the time… even when I forget to water them!
Rosemary
My toughest little herb. Rosemary can withstand the lack of care that I give my plants so I’m a fan.
Peppermint, spearmint, or any mint!
My mint grows like weeds when I take care of them. And survives even when I don’t!
Plants to Avoid (I’ve killed these):
Basil. This herb requires attention AND maintenance. If you’re not going to be around to take care of it, your basil simply won’t last.
Anything that flowers. Seriously, anything with a flower requires sun and maintenance. Two things I simply am not good with following.
