Maybe it’s just me, but the moment November hits, I’m immediately filled with a calming sensation and a sudden burst of joy. It might be the fall weather but if I’m going to give credit where credit is due, I’ve got to attribute this feeling to the Thanksgiving feast that’s around the corner. I don’t know about you, but I’m a side dish kind of girl. I’d prioritize macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole and biscuits over turkey any day.
Here at Fish, we love Thanksgiving so much that we have a pre-holiday feast in the office. And because we never play by the rules, we put our own twist on the traditional Thanksgiving meal and have deemed our celebration “Baconsgiving.” Why? Because bacon is awesome! For the past three years, every member of the Fish team brings in a dish that somehow incorporates bacon, and because we’re overachievers in everything we do, our crew never fails to deliver.
In an attempt to give you a visual, and make your mouths water, I’ll give you a rundown of what our spread looked like this year. We kicked things off with bacon Bloody Marys, compliments Sam and myself. Julia and Chelsea killed the appetizer game with cheesy bacon and BLT dips, and Michelle came in clutch with bacon and chocolate covered dates. Drooling yet? Marisa and Lauren made sure we had some type of nutritional option and made a kale salad packed with bacon and avocado. And because we were all cursed with a killer sweet tooth, Lorne, Bernie, Ellie and Courtney saved the day with bacon wrapped pop tarts and maple bacon donuts.
The office air still smells like bacon as I sit here writing this, which means we’ve once again crushed our Baconsgiving feast. The fact that I just unzipped my jeans is also a telling sign of success. We have 24 hours to recover before feasting once again with our friends and family. I don’t know about anyone else but I have no doubt that I’ll be ready for round two.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
