An Intro to Taylor Swift’s Best Songs

2020 has been a hell of a year, but after seven miserable months we were finally gifted with something to celebrate: Taylor Swift surprise-released her latest album Folklore. Arguably her best album to date, Folklore was produced with top-notch indie/alternative musicians, including The National’s Aaron Dessner, and it did not disappoint. Much of the critical response praised Taylor’s songwriting capabilities, noting that they shine through on Folklore more than any of her past work. While that’s true, real Taylor Swift fans know that the songs she releases as singles for the radio are typically not the best tracks from her albums (in fact, they’re usually the worst – how a song like “We Are Never Getting Back Together” was the lead single for a masterpiece of an album like Red will never make any sense to me).

If you’re into Folklore and want to dive into some of Taylor Swift’s lesser-known songs that showcase her songwriting talents, you’re in luck. Here’s a ranking of the 15 best Taylor Swift songs that are hidden gems across her discography, with links so you can take a listen on YouTube.
