The Fish team is all about immersing ourselves in every brand we work with, so it was a must to travel to sunny California and meet the team (in-person!) at the NuZee headquarters. NuZee is a specialty coffee company with a primary focus on single-serve coffee co-packing. As a leader in the single-serve pour over and tea bag coffee co-packer space, the brand’s mission is to revolutionize the way single-serve coffee is enjoyed in the United States. After a flight across the U.S. we arrived in Carlsbad, known as “The Village by the Sea,” near San Diego (cue Phantom Planet’s “California” song).
Immersion Day kicked off with a coffee tour at NuZee’s local roasters that sell their innovative single serve coffee format. Our first stop was BUMP, located in Cardiff, where we sipped our coffee and ate tasty empanadas surrounded by laid-back surfer locals who frequent this ultra-cool coffee shop. Caffeinated and ready to go, we ventured to our next stop, Philz Coffee, known for its menu of fun coffee creations, including Iced Coffee Rose and Iced Mint Mojito.
An ocean-view drive followed, as we drove over to NuZee’s headquarters to meet with the team and immerse ourselves in the co-packing process. While at the headquarters, NuZee’s chief sales officer, Jose Ramirez, guided us through the production facility where machines worked quickly and efficiently to produce perfectly packaged pour-over products. After this first-hand experience, our team dove into learning more about NuZee’s upcoming products, initiatives, and more.
After a day filled with coffee, more coffee, and brainstorming with the team, it was time to enjoy a fun dinner with the team at Campfire, a buzzy, wood-fired American fare restaurant. A highlight of this dinner with the team was the s’mores dessert served in an elevated campfire style to toast your marshmallows.
Filled with coffee, new ideas, and great client memories, it was time to head back to Fort Lauderdale and work on bringing our immersion work to life.
