2020 was a complete disaster, but Taylor Swift AKA the world’s most productive person in quarantine gave us two reasons to live: Folklore and Evermore. This queen dropped not one, but two absolute masterpiece albums out of nowhere, and thanks to production from The National’s Aaron Dessner and Bleachers’ Jack Antonoff, they featured some of Swift’s career best writing, singing and storytelling.
Folklore and Evermore have garnered acclaim from both the critics and the general public – with many people remarking that they’ve never liked her music before but are now fans.
However, due to Swift’s bizarre trend of selecting the absolute worst songs from each album as her promo singles, most people don’t realize that the songs they hear on the radio aren’t a true reflection of her music (I sincerely hope whoever approved selecting the abomination that is the song “Me” as the promo single for an album as jam-packed with absolute bops as Lover has since been fired).
I’ve created a beginner’s guide to all the hidden gems in Swift’s discography, designed specifically for anyone who thinks they don’t like her music because they think the song Shake It Off is stupid and annoying (same, dude).
