Meet Brendan Maguire, our newest Fishie with a knack for going the extra mile. He’s the type of co-worker you can rely on for anything from a quick deadline to the next best creative idea. Brendan’s also a team sport inside and outside of the office – during his first Fish happy hour, he joined the team for a ladies’ night special where his charm earned him free champagne! When he’s not preparing for his big move from New Jersey to Charlotte, he’s catching up on his favorite TV shows. Whether it’s embracing fun moments or lending a helping hand, Brendan brings an air of adventure to the team, and we’re so happy to have him!
Work you and personal you likely differ slightly. So how would your friends describe you?
I’m super close to both my friends and my family. I’d give an arm or leg for pretty much anyone that I’m close to – I think they’d describe me as loyal, supportive and always down for a fun time.
And how would Lorne describe you?
I’ve luckily had the chance to work with Lorne on a few tasks but am not entirely sure how he’d describe me! I hope he would describe me as a go-getter – I put my best into the work that I do and am always happy to help out where needed.
Bookworm or TV addict?
Unfortunately, I have never been huge into books. Love reading articles and stories online though. We’ll go with TV addict.
What’s your funniest Fish memory?
The end of my first Fish happy hour turned into a stop at a bar that was hosting a ladies’ night special! But hey – free champagne made up for it.
If you were Lorne for a day, what would you do?
I work remotely – but I’d fly out to Ft. Lauderdale and work from his office for the day. And close a little early for a classic Fish happy hour.

Night owl.
What are you currently binge watching?
My Netflix reality TV binge is over until there are new seasons (looking at you – Love is Blind, The Ultimatum, The Circle). So, if we count college football and major league sports – then that’s what I’m currently watching all the time!
Tacos – hard shell or soft shell?
Soft shell.
If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
I’m definitely someone who overthinks a lot. So I’d change that about myself if I could!
If it were up to you, what would your song selection be for conference line hold music?
I actually don’t want music while holding on the phone! Make it more entertaining – let’s go with a compilation of comedy show hits. Throw in the live crowd reactions. That’ll keep me on hold for a bit!
Bloody Mary or Mimosa? And you can’t say both, although I’d absolutely respect it.
I have to go with a mimosa – or to mix it up once in a while, a peach bellini. Not a fan of bloody mary’s.
You can bring anyone as a date to a dinner party, dead or alive, who’s your plus one?
Sat on this one for a while. I really don’t know. I’ve never met someone who didn’t get along with my Mom, so I guess she’s tagging along as a +1!
We know you can’t sing, but what’s your go-to karaoke song?
Golden rule of karaoke is to never sing alone (hide my horrible attempt at whatever we’re singing), and sing a song everyone knows. I’ll go with Dancing Queen by ABBA.
What’s your party trick?
Can’t say I have one – but I do my best to make sure everyone is laughing and having a good time.
Pick your poison – straight shot or mixed cocktail?
Mixed cocktail.
Amy Poehler or Amy Schumer?
I honestly haven’t seen a ton of shows or movies with either of them in it – but I’ll go Amy Poehler. Having her on SNL with Tina Fey is an undefeated combination.
If you could spend a year living anywhere in the world, where would it be?
Ireland – have never had the chance to visit Ireland (COVID canceled that trip) but have heard so much about how beautiful it is. Also have family roots there!
When was the last time you told a lie? And if you say you don’t lie, then your answer should be “right this second.”
I’ve been lying to myself for a while – “will get a dog within 3-6 months of moving to Charlotte.” I know it’ll be a lot sooner than that! Anxious for a furry friend to join my new home once I move in November.
Besides an ice-cold cocktail, what motivates you?
The desire to succeed and do well in life. I’m also motivated by my family.

Regretting the fact that my name is 7 letters right now!
