Hi. My name is Sam and I’m an Apple Watch addict. I’m ashamed to admit that this little device on my wrist has full and total control over my day to day life. It’s at the point where I think what started out as good intentions (move more during the day, be healthier) is evolving into an unhealthy obsession (crying when I don’t close my rings, spastically doing jumping jacks before bed to get a few precious additional exercise points).
As an expert in Apple Watch addiction, I’m the perfect source to raise awareness of what the red flags are. If any of these apply to you, welcome to the club.
- You will get up and “use the restroom” multiple times during a dinner date to make sure you get your stand points.
- You’re THAT guy who answers all calls via watch. Worse, you only text via watch (for the record, even a full-fledged addict like me doesn’t sink that low).
- You have an Apple Watch tanline.
- You have worn your Apple Watch to formal events (I’m going to a black tie wedding in a week and am already stressing about how I’m going to keep it out of pictures because lord knows I won’t sacrifice closing my rings just for the most important day of someone else’s life).
- You have worked out deathly hungover because you don’t want to jeopardize not getting that perfect week award.
- “Apple Watch or it doesn’t count” is your philosophy on workouts. I’m not saying I once walked out of a yoga class because my watch died, but I’m not NOT saying it either.
