Quarantine Reading List

You know how you keep telling yourself that you’re going to become a reader? That you’re finally going to become the type of person who picks up a book instead of switches on Netflix to unwind at the end of a long day? Well, the COVID-19 pandemic has MANY downsides, but there is a silver lining: now is the perfect time to achieve your aspiration of becoming a reader. A few weeks ago, all of our TV watch lists seemed never-ending, as though the amount of content available on the countless streaming services and cable channels would entertain us forever. However, after a few weeks of self-isolation, most of us have either blown through every show imaginable or simply can’t fathom continuing to sit and watch TV for hours on end all day every day for the foreseeable future (#NetflixAndChill is literally my new nightmare).

As Fish’s resident reader, I’m the go-to source around the office for a book recommendation, and hearing from my fellow Fishies how much they enjoyed my recommendations is one of my favorite things. Coronavirus: you can take away my freedom, my yoga studio, and my access to toilet paper and Clorox, but I refuse to let you take away my love of helping everyone discover their next favorite book.

Here are some great books guaranteed to keep you entertained while we’re quarantined and self-isolating for the foreseeable future, all of which are currently available for order from Amazon. Happy reading!

  • Literally anything by Harlan Coben (my top picks: Tell No One, Gone For Good, Six Years, Don’t Let Go…but seriously, they’re all amazing)
  • The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides
  • Never Tell by Lisa Gardner
  • Watching You by Lisa Jewell
  • The Couple Next Door by Shari Lapena
  • Verity by Colleen Hoover

Fiction

  • Americanah by Chimanda Ngozi Adichie
  • Before We Were Yours by Lisa Wingate
  • The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah
  • The Alice Network by Kate Quinn
  • A Visit From the Goon Squad by Jennifer Egan

Nonfiction

  • A House in the Sky by Amanda Lindhout
  • Educated by Tara Westover
  • Bad Blood by John Carreyrou
