The holidays are a time for family, friends and giving back. At Fish, we take pride in our local South Florida community, especially around the holidays, so November was the perfect time to partner with the South Florida Chapter of PRSA (Public Relations Society of America) and a local foodbank, Feeding South Florida. On the afternoon of November 21, several members of our team headed down to the Feeding South Florida food bank to volunteer a couple of hours of their time to help the less fortunate in our community.
Feeding South Florida is the largest, most efficient food bank serving Palm Beach, Broward, Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties. Through innovative direct-service programs and a network of nonprofit partner agencies, Feeding South Florida distributes more than 50 million pounds (42 million meals) of food annually to over 700,000 individuals – 240,190 of whom are children and 110,000 are older adults. Their mission is to end hunger in South Florida by providing immediate access to nutritious food, leading hunger and poverty advocacy efforts and transforming lives through innovative programming and education.
We were happy to help support such an important and effective organization. After a brief training that gave us insight into the organization and background on what we’d be helping with that day, we split into teams and began sorting, organizing and packing various food items that will be distributed to families in need. From pastas and juices to cookies and cereals, we helped assemble about 100 different packages that will help families in need.
It was our pleasure to volunteer with Feeding South Florida, and we encourage our clients, friends and family to also give back in their local community during the holiday season.
