While we haven’t quite reached that point where everyone starts to purchase Christmas gifts and bring out the holiday decorations, it’ll be here in just a few weeks (or days). So, being me and knowing I love to plan everything out, I wanted to share a few tips to avoid the stress that naturally comes with the holidays. From when to start making a list to hitting the grocery store for Thanksgiving dinner must-haves, here’s what you can start doing.
Make dinner reservations
Whether you’re considering going out to dinner for the night before Thanksgiving or for Christmas Eve, call up your favorite restaurant weeks ahead of time. You’re not the only that’s thinking about it and this time of year calls for making reservations earlier than you think is acceptable. Trust me – you don’t want to be left with no options.
Hit the grocery stores asap
I realize that this may seem like a horrible idea but if you make a list of what you’re planning on cooking for the holidays ahead of time, you will realize there are items in there that won’t go bad if you buy now and store properly in the pantry. Pecans for your pecan pie, stove top muffin mix, marshmallows and even aluminum foil can all make their way into your shopping cart now. We all know what happens if you wait until the week (or even two weeks) before these big holidays to go to the grocery store.
Set up sleeping arrangements
Doesn’t matter if you’re traveling for the holidays or you’re hosting this year, there are sleeping arrangements to be made and they should already have been tackled. If you’re flying to visit a family member, doublecheck with them about spending the night in their home. If people are coming to your home this year, let those that are visiting know how many fit in your guest rooms and who needs to plan to stay in a hotel. The earlier you do this, the less stressed you will be.
