Match Latte FTW

Meet my favorite drink: the matcha latte. I’m not here to tell you what to do, but you seriously should try this stuff. I’m hooked, my dad is hooked and I’m working on getting a few more addicted to this delicious drink. I discovered a few of my colleagues are matcha fans (after I was spot treating the green spot on my white shirt)! This drink may be green, and at times, remind you of drinking grass. Sooo what’s there to love? Well.. since you asked.

Matcha is a type of green tea that’s made from grinding whole green tea leaves into a fine powder. Which is then mixed with hot water to make a tea, or mixed with milk to make a latte (I prefer oat milk). Matcha can be good for you as it contains a number of beneficial nutrients!

Here are some potential health benefits of matcha:

  1. Antioxidants: Matcha is high in antioxidants called catechins, which can help protect your body from damage caused by free radicals.
  2. Energy boost: Matcha contains caffeine, which can help increase alertness and boost energy levels.
  3. Calming effect: Matcha also contains an amino acid called L-theanine, which can promote relaxation and reduce stress.
  4. Heart health: Some studies have suggested that drinking green tea, including matcha, may be associated with a reduced risk of heart disease.
  5. Weight management: Some research has shown that matcha may help support weight management by increasing metabolism and promoting fat burning.

It’s important to note, however, that not all matcha is created equal. Matcha can contain high levels of lead, if it’s grown in contaminated soil. To minimize this risk, it’s recommended to choose high-quality matcha from reputable sources. Always do your own research and find what works for you!
