5 tips to learning a new language

Learning a new language takes time and lots of practice. Let’s face it, learning a language because high school required a language credit isn’t the most exhilarating method. Studying still isn’t exciting. It’s time to get creative! Discovering creative methods of daily practice is the key to learning a new language. There are loads of great websites where you can Learn French and other languages. So, do plenty of research! Search for the best tool for your style of learning. Whether you want to learn a language by listening to a podcast or using a mobile phone app, there are lots of options!

Podcasts are extremely helpful when it comes to learning new languages. I listen to them in the car. Because I can practice the language with no fear of being overheard and embarrassed. And the best part… it’s free!

  1. Soap Operas

Watching a soap opera in your target language is fantastic. It’s dramatic and educational. Most soap operas speak slowly and use simple (and often repetitive) words. Another trick: turn on subtitles in your target language. Reading and listening at the same time? Double bonus.

Seriously it’s SO much fun to learn through music. You’ll often forget that you’re learning a language. It’s also an excellent way to build that confidence. Because once you’ve sung Ricky Martin’s Livin’ la Vida Loca at the top of your lungs you feel like a pro!

Select an interest or hobby of yours and search for a blog in your target language about that subject. You’ll be even more inclined to learn when the subject interests you. And how much easier is it to talk about your hobbies and interests? 100%

Taking a vacation to a region that speaks your target language is the best way to learn. Completely immerse yourself in the culture. And don’t be embarrassed when mistakes happen!
