2020 Weddings – Quarantine Style

Imagine spending the last year of your life planning a wedding, only to have to cancel due to a virus outbreak. You put down payments on a venue, buy a dress, send out invitations, only to lose a chunk of money and the idea of your ‘perfect day’. That’s the reality for many couples across the country and while many were able to postpone, others were not going to let COVID-19 ruin their memorable day. However, with social distancing restrictions in place, gathering a group of friends and family to celebrate the union most likely isn’t going to happen. So, these couples got creative.

Zoom
According to KMOV, Lorie Jackson and Andre Fuller had originally planned to wed at a St. Louis church in front of 150 of their closest loved ones. Not wanting to put a hold on their wedding plans, the duo decided to get married via Zoom with their Pastor virtually officiating. Who says you have to pay for an expensive wedding?!

Empty Street
NBC New York shared the story of Reilly Jennings and Amanda Wheeler, who decided to throw convention out the window and marry in the middle of an empty street. The duo exchanged vows in front of an apartment complex, with their friend officiating from four floors up. Maybe not the most romantic, but it sure is a story to tell the kids!

Donations
For some couples who decided to cancel last-minute, an alternative ceremony didn’t pan out. Instead, they used their wedding gifts/decorations to do a little good. As KSAT reports, a New Braunfels couple whose wedding party was nixed made the choice to repurpose their flowers and donate them to assisted living centers across the city. If you can’t get your money back, might as well pay it forward 
