20 Questions with Nicole Hunnicutt

Hailing from Atlanta, Georgia, Nicole Hunnicutt can make anything sound nice with her sweet Southern drawl. Even though she says she would like to turn off the part of her brain that always catches typos and grammatical errors, we are definitely grateful for it here at Fish! Our team knows that we can always rely on Nicole. She’s the one we call when we need a solid proofread, to brainstorm a story idea or for help working on a client award nomination.

Nicole has been a part of Fish for years, and that shows in her expert ability to land media for any grand opening put in front of her and the top-notch business stories she lands for her clients.

Her party trick is small talk, and you should see her work the room at a conference! (And if you ever run into her, don’t hesitate to challenge her to a karaoke sing off…we have a feeling she’ll earn your “respect”!) Learn more about Nicole below!

Work you and personal you likely differ slightly. So how would your friends describe you?
I can be fairly Type A in work and personal life, but my close friends would say that I can be very funny and spontaneous when I do finally cut loose.

And how would Lorne describe you?
Reliable

Bookworm or TV addict?
That’s a hard one. There are definitely shows I get hooked on, but I’m not one to mindlessly channel surf. I love getting lost in a book. And the Libby library app has been life-changing.

What’s your funniest Fish memory?
I think anytime the team gangs up on Lorne and makes fun of him. He’s a really good sport about it.

If you were Lorne for a day, what would you do?
Just the thought of it stresses me out! Hard pass.

Early bird or night owl?
Early bird. My kids tuck me in now.

What are you currently binge watching?
Just finished “Never Have I Ever” and “Only Murders in the Building.” Waiting for something new to come out.

Tacos – hard shell or soft shell?
Hard shell all the way. Gotta have that crunch.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
I wish errors (grammatical and others) didn’t constantly jump out at me. I’d like to be able to shut off that part of my brain and just relax, but I always see mistakes or things that need to be improved.

If it were up to you, what would your song selection be for conference line hold music?
I really get a kick out of the music we currently have; the guy singing “Well, I’ve been sitting here all day, I’ve been sitting in this waiting room.” I Googled it, and apparently, it’s sung by the co-founder of UberConference.

Bloody Mary or Mimosa? And you can’t say both, although I’d absolutely respect it.
100% Mimosa.

You can bring anyone as a date to a dinner party, dead or alive, who’s your plus one?
Joan Rivers. She’s exactly the type of person I want to hang out with at a party and listen to her commentary.

We know you can’t sing, but what’s your go-to karaoke song?
R-E-S-P-E-C-T, find out what it means to me

What’s your party trick?
Small talk. I don’t like it at all, but I’m really good at it when I need to be.

Pick your poison – straight shot or mixed cocktail?
I haven’t done a shot since the Buttery Nipple Incident™ of the night before my wedding. I’m not big on liquor in general, but a really good margarita makes me happy. Even a bad margarita can make me happy if it comes with cheese dip.

Amy Poehler or Amy Schumer?
Amy Schumer. She can be so crass, but I loved her book, and I thought she was a revelation in “Life & Beth.”

If you could spend a year living anywhere in the world, where would it be?
100% Italy. Florence with a side of Tuscany.

When was the last time you told a lie? And if you say you don’t lie, then your answer should be “right this second.”
My kids think I was an angel in high school.

Besides an ice-cold cocktail, what motivates you?
Competition

If your name were an acronym, what would it stand for?
Nature lover
Introverted
Controlled
Optimistic
Level-headed
Efficient
