20 Questions with Lauren Simo

Raise your hand if you’ve been on the receiving end of one of Lauren’s famous positive pep talks! I know everyone at Fish has their hands flying in the air. There’s a reason we call her Positive Patsy. The girl has a knack for looking on the bright side, and it’s just one of the many reasons why we love her. When she’s not kicking ass and taking names on accounts like The Melting Pot and Dwyer Group, you’ll most likely find Lauren training for a half marathon, doing some kind of crazy pushup in an Orangetheory class (side note: this is why we also call her Perfect Form Patricia), or road tripping to Tampa to visit her family. She’s truly one of a kind and Fish is lucky to have her. If you happen to be at the IFA Convention, go find our girl and you’ll see what we mean. Here are some fun facts to hold you over.

Work you and personal you likely differ slightly. So how would your friends describe you?
While I’m always early to the office, I’m always late to meet up with friends. Sorry guys, I’m working on it.

And how would Lorne describe you?
Can I just copy and paste from my annual review? “Positive and strategic, and more importantly, always willing to help the team.” Thanks, Lorne J

Bookworm or TV addict?
It’s not that I hate reading, it’s just that if you’re asking me to choose between a book and catching up on This is Us…

What’s your funniest Fish memory?
There was this one time at Blondes on Fort Lauderdale Beach…

If you were Lorne for a day, what would you do?
Sometimes I actually pretend that I AM Lorne. Like when people call the office and ask for me thinking that it’s him (“did you mean Lorne, or Laur-EN?”). But if I had total control I’d probably look into a 4-day work week schedule.

Early bird or night owl?
Early bird, and I blame Andie for making it earlier and earlier. She gives me anxiety about getting to the 5:30 a.m. Orangetheory class before we’re even allowed in the studio (but still get me a treadmill card, please).

What are you currently binge watching on Netflix?
NOTHING! Someone please recommend something good! My tastes range from Stranger Things and Dexter to Gilmore Girls and Parenthood, so feel free to send over a few suggestions.

Tacos – hard shell or soft shell?
Soft. I’ve mastered the fold so none of the good stuff falls out.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
You know those people that wake up with perfect, movie star hair? I want that. Summers in South Florida mean that my just-straightened hair can turn into the Lion King real quick.

If it were up to you, what would your song selection be for conference line hold music?
Let’s stick with the Hello theme but switch it up to Lionel Richie’s version. “Hello. Is it me you’re looking for?”

Bloody Mary or Mimosa? And you can’t say both, although I’d absolutely respect it.
I’ve tried so hard to like Bloody Marys. I keep ordering them at brunch thinking that this is the day I’ll learn to love them…but then I just end up giving it away and ordering a mimosa.

You can bring anyone as a date to a dinner party, dead or alive, who’s your plus one?
Jonathan Taylor Thomas, so the 12-year-old me can finally fulfill her wish of going on a date with him.

We know you can’t sing, but what’s your go-to karaoke song?
How dare you, I CAN sing! And although it doesn’t showcase my vocal talents, Coolio’s Gangsta’s Paradise is my go-to.

What’s your party trick?
I was the flip cup queen in college. Let’s see if my skills are still on-point. Anyone up for a game during Fish’s next happy hour?

Pick your poison – straight shot or mixed cocktail?
How about a glass (or two) of cabernet sauvignon?

Amy Poehler or Amy Schumer?
Tough one, but Trainwreck was just on TV so since she’s top of mind, let’s go with Schumer.

If you could spend a year living anywhere in the world, where would it be?
Valencia, Spain! I could eat paella for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

When was the last time you told a lie? And if you say you don’t lie, then your answer should be “right this second.”
Honestly can’t remember. Which either means I lie so much I lose track, or I’m an honest Abe. Let’s go with the latter.

Besides an ice cold cocktail, what motivates you?
I know everyone thinks they have the best family and group of friends, but I really do. Cheers to them!

If your name were an acronym, what would it stand for?
Loves to laugh
Addicted to watermelon sour gummies
Unique (not a very unique answer I know, but I couldn’t think of a U)
Runner
Encouraging
Needs to travel (Australia is the next big trip!)
