20 Questions with Jenna Kantrowitz

From all the way across the pond, Jenna somehow manages to keep our team in order and Lorne in check on a daily basis, all while balancing her side gig as matriarch of the Mayer (we all know her as Kantrowitz) household. And by side gig, we mean full-time wife and mummy to her new baby boy Clive. And we can’t forget about the true king of the family, Sir Miles Mayer, a royal in his own right and the cutest King Charles Cavalier in all of London. As one of Fish’s OGs, there’s a good chance you’ve met Jenna at some sort of meeting or on the conference circuit, schmoozing with the best of them, most likely with a bourbon in hand. Cheers to you, Jenna, our fearless COO who keeps the Fish ship sailing! After reading the below, we know you’ll love her just as much as we do.

Work you and personal you likely differ slightly. So how would your friends describe you?
Similar but definitely more stubborn when it comes to my personal life.

And how would Lorne describe you?
As a sounding board and reality check.

Bookworm or TV addict?
Bookworm, 100%. I used to call myself an avid reader but now Goodnight Moon and Where’s Spot is where it’s at.

What’s your funniest Fish memory?
Next time you see Lorne, ask him the names of everyone who works at Fish.

If you were Lorne for a day, what would you do?
Fish field trip to London. Can’t you just see us all at high tea with our pinkies in the air?!

Early bird or night owl?
Early bird all the way. Though with a one year old, this choice is no longer my own.

What are you currently binge watching on Netflix?
Suits. I’m late to the game on this one but had to see for myself what the Meghan Markle hype was about. Totally into it – and her.

Tacos – hard shell or soft shell?
Tacos don’t really do it for me. Overrated. Tequila and guacamole though and I’m a happy girl.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
I’m a crazy over thinker and tend to mull things over in my head over and over again. If I could turn that down a notch there’d be so much more space in my brain!

If it were up to you, what would your song selection be for conference line hold music?
Three Little Birds by Bob Marley. It’s always the cool down song for my Wednesday AM Pure Strength (i.e. get your butt kicked) class and hearing “Don’t worry about a thing, ‘cause every little thing gonna be alright” can’t not put a smile on your face.

Bloody Mary or Mimosa? And you can’t say both, although I’d absolutely respect it.
Mimosa, but just a splash of OJ please. And in case you’re coming across the pond, it’s known as a Buck’s Fizz over here.

You can bring anyone as a date to a dinner party, dead or alive, who’s your plus one?
Patrick Swayze. Don’t judge. And we’d do The Lift in the middle of dinner and you’d all be jealous.

We know you can’t sing, but what’s your go-to karaoke song?
Living on a Prayer. What can I say, I’m originally from Jersey.

What’s your party trick?
I’m an instigator and like to make sure everyone always has a drink in had. And because of that, our Fish shenanigans are typically over budget. Oops.

Pick your poison – straight shot or mixed cocktail?
Bourbon, rocks, 2 lemon wedges. The lemon is a game changer. Try it. You’ll be shocked by how good it is and you’ll always get an approving look from the bartender.

Amy Poehler or Amy Schumer?
Ahh, neither. Crude, raunchy girl humor just isn’t my thing.

If you could spend a year living anywhere in the world, where would it be?
Right now Japan is really high on my list and would love for Tokyo to be a home base to explore that side of the world.

When was the last time you told a lie? And if you say you don’t lie, then your answer should be “right this second.”
Yesterday when I said to Justin (husband) “oh this handbag, it’s old.” So not true.

Besides an ice cold cocktail, what motivates you?
Traveling the world with my boys meaning husband, son and dog. Yes, I said dog too – he has his own pet passport and has been to five countries – seriously not kidding! Living in London has been a great hub to explore so many cities and beaches, and I want Clive (son, not dog 🙂 ) to grow up with the same wanderlust spirit I have. Next stop, Seychelles.

If your name were an acronym, what would it stand for?
Jetsetter
Eager
New(ish) Mummy
Namaste
A lover of wine and shoes
