20 Questions with Hayden Koone

Hailing from Houston is this month’s featured Fishie, Hayden Koone (née Rome)! Channeling her big Texas energy (hey y’all) Hayden’s love for writing combined with her passion for helping others is a recipe for PR success.

With great taste in music (that’s a fact, not an opinion) and the ability to get down to the nitty-gritty talking sports – Go Astros and Dawgs (UGA) she brings a lot of personality to the table…perfect for this industry! On top of that, she’s quite fashionable…ask her about the dog face shirt (you read that right) she once wore on our staff call or her endless recommendations for the “coziest” pajamas.

A fellow dog mom to her rescue dog, Scout, in her free time you can catch Hayden relaxing with her pup and hubby with a slice of pizza in her left hand and a glass (or bottle) of red wine in her right! She’s talented, what can we say, read more below and see for yourself!

Work you and personal you likely differ slightly. So how would your friends describe you?
An empathetic and thoughtful lover of all things pizza, dogs, red wine and faith.

And how would Lorne describe you?
Inquisitive and overly detailed… brevity is not my strong suit, which you will quickly learn when reading my responses.

Bookworm or TV addict?
Ugh, both.

What’s your funniest Fish memory?
When Nate drew the disposable camera at Fishmas white elephant… nostalgia hit those born before 2000 like a freight train.

If you were Lorne for a day, what would you do?
We’d cancel any work and would have an off-site pizza and red wine party at a dog farm where we got to play with emotional support dogs all day and then at the end, he’d surprise us all with raises!

Early bird or night owl?
Both, which is why I’m so tired every single day of my life. It’s really healthy!

What are you currently binge watching?
The Last of Us on HBO, even though it gives me crippling anxiety and traumatizing nightmares but it’s a great watch. Highly recommend.

Tacos – hard shell or soft shell?
Soft shell (tortillas???) breakfast tacos with bacon, egg, cheese and potato for breakfast. Combo beef and shredded chicken hard shell tacos for dinner.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
I need to say “no” more.

If it were up to you, what would your song selection be for conference line hold music?
“Send Me On My Way” by Rusted Root or “Will You Be There” by Michael Jackson.. but then I’d probably just keep hanging up and calling again and again so I could keep hearing these songs. Wouldn’t really be fun for the person on the other line.

Bloody Mary or Mimosa? And you can’t say both, although I’d absolutely respect it.
Mimosa, hold the orange juice.

You can bring anyone as a date to a dinner party, dead or alive, who’s your plus one?
Probably Jimmy Fallon… you can’t not have a good dinner party with him as your date.

We know you can’t sing, but what’s your go-to karaoke song?
Depends on where the night is taking me but “Pony” by Ginuwine or “What’s Up” by 4 Non Blondes… I had my 30th birthday party (does that age me?) at a karaoke bar, so enough said.

What’s your party trick?
Give me a couple fireball shots and I somehow think everyone in the bar is also up for a dance off.

Pick your poison – straight shot or mixed cocktail?
How lit are we tryin’ to get?

Amy Poehler or Amy Schumer?
Poehler, obviously. This is one of my top 5 favorite gifs.

If you could spend a year living anywhere in the world, where would it be?
In the US? Blackberry Farm, hands down. My favorite place! Outside of the US? Probably Italy because the food is amazing and there’s such a wide variety of towns, cities and landscapes to see.

When was the last time you told a lie? And if you say you don’t lie, then your answer should be “right this second.”
This morning when my husband asked me what’s in the two packages that I just received and I told him that I have no idea what they are or where they came from. Didn’t really think that one through since there are visible return labels on them but I had to shoot my shot.

Besides an ice-cold cocktail, what motivates you?
I have expensive taste. But really though, I love to help others in any capacity and I’m able to channel that through my work at Fish. Whether helping clients succeed by securing coverage or giving guidance to a team member, I find so much joy in the end result.

If your name were an acronym, what would it stand for?
H – Happiest with her dog, Scout
A – Always down for anything
Y – You miss 100% of the dogs you don’t pet
D – Doesn’t like any chips in the Itos family
E – Enjoys pizza
N – Never met a stranger
