What to Do on a Rainy Day

I don’t know about the rest of the country but in South Florida, we’ve been dealing with nonstop rain for the past week and a half. The roads are flooded, most of us are feeling down and it seems like all we can do is stay inside and watch Netflix. However, this weekend I decided there has to be other fun activities we can do that doesn’t involve us sitting on the couch. Here’s what I came across that the internet recommends:

Grab a paint brush: Turn your kitchen table into an easel and spend an hour or two painting. If you’re not sure where to start, go on Pinterest or Instagram and find a picture of a park, the ocean or your favorite animal and paint what you see. If you’re hoping to have your partner or significant other join you, turn this into one of those painting and drinking parties everyone was doing for their birthdays last year.

Have a spa day: Recreate what you see at your favorite spa and have a relaxing day at home. Purchase a lavender or eucalyptus candle, along with a reed diffuser to create the right kind of ambiance. Turn off any electronics around the home and set your phone to do not disturb. You’ll also want to look into getting a hydrating face mask and a book that’ll keep your mind off everything that’s goes on in your everyday life.

Sign up for an online cooking class: In response to COVID-19, many cooking classes are going online this year. That’s why, it’s easier than ever to find one you can join on the weekend and prepare ahead of time by purchasing the pantry items you’ll need to follow the recipe step by step.

Plan your next vacation: While traveling across state lines and overseas is not recommended at this time, there’s nothing wrong with dreaming of what your ideal next vacation will be. If you’re looking for ideas, check out Conde Nast Traveler or Travel + Leisure. You should also look into following travel pages on Instagram that share images of resorts, destinations and attractions from across the world.
