What a Nice Introduction to France

If you caught my previous post then you already know that this is the second installment to my three-part vacation diary. On the third day of our European trip, we woke up in Rome on the morning of my boyfriends 31st birthday and ended the day in Nice, France. This city stole my heart – whether it was the beautiful weather, stunning beaches, the French hills sprinkled with colorful home or the food that did it – I will forever hold a special place for this place.

We spent most of our time eating and exploring in what is referred to as Old Town, and as the name indicates, it is one of the oldest and most historic parts of the city. A neighborhood filled with authentic restaurants, bars, shops and street markets. Every alley a new adventure. The food exquisite everywhere we went. Because we were tourists, we relied heavily on Yelp, Trip Advisor and other forms of social media to steer us in the right direction. One such blog, The Best of Nice, pointed us in the direction of a historic underground wine cellar that served fresh and eclectic cheeses, pastas and a variety of other delectable treats… and of course, wine. The joint was known for pouring melting hot cheese straight from the wheel directly onto the pasta right at the table, however when we were in town there was apparently no fresh cheese wheels available. Just our luck, right? Well regardless, we were lucky enough to be served by the chef and owner himself and despite some of our snooty stereotypical French interactions prior to this dinner, this man quickly made up for all of them. So warm, so authentic, so welcoming.

Because the 2nd smallest country behind the Vatican is right next store to Nice, we were able to take a quick bus ride (approximately 30 mins) to this beautiful land of billionaires. It was during this time of the year that they happened to be setting up the streets for the Grand Prix race so navigating was a bit difficult as there were many street closures. It was here that my boyfriend got to live out his boyish fantasy of driving a Ferrari. That’s right, a cherry red sports car was rented, and driven, through the streets of Monaco. Enough said.

It was on our third day in France that I experienced most likely my favorite part of the entire trip. A day out on the boat. We booked a ‘yacht’ through Nice Boat Tours with the charming captain Vincent. The sun was shining, not a cloud in the sky, champagne flowing and snacks on deck with the French Riviera as our background — I ask you — what could be better? From 10am – 3pm I was in a state of sheer happiness. Although the water was cold, we docked up for a time near a cave that I was forced to jump into the icy waters to explore. I mean how often are you in France, on the French Riviera, on a boat, with the opportunity to swim into a cave? Toward the end of the boat ride, we stopped in a small lagoon cul-de-sac surrounded by beautifully trimmed mansions and for a brief moment, I imagined that I was home.

My only wish is that we had more time to explore some of the other French cities. For example, I have always wanted to visit Strasbourg. Some friends of ours recently went to Strasbourg and they had such an amazing time. They even befriended a group of friendly escorts who took them on a tour of the city! Our friends told us that they had a fascinating conversation with the escorts about their line of work, and how in strasbourg escortdirectory.com and similar websites are making it easier for escorts and other people who work in the adult sector to find clients. This just goes to show how the internet can be used in ways that you might not have even considered!

Anyway, feeling refreshed and bronzed I was ready to take on the next, and final adventure of the trip, Barcelona. Be sure to stay tuned for the concluding installment of my European adventure. It’s filled with Gaudi architecture, friends, bike tours, beaches and delicious food!
