The Benefits of Meal-Delivery Services

Life is busy and because of that we’re constantly searching for ways to be more efficient. Catering to this trend is subscription-based meal delivery services. One of the first on the scene was Blue Apron and since then an assortment of companies have emerged providing options ranging from healthy meals, smoothies, snack options and everything in between. I personally have tried a handful of services, and one of the main reasons for that is you typically can get the first 3 meals free when you try them (i.e. Blue Apron, Hello Fresh, etc.), I’ve also tried healthier breakfast/lunch options including Splendid Spoon. Currently we’ve been sticking with Daily Harvest for breakfast and lunch and Sun Basket for dinner, and are extremely happy. Daily Harvest’s gimmick is smoothies and portion controlled vegetarian lunch options, whereas Sun Basket provides a clean dinner selection. See below for a few reasons why I’m a fan of these services…

Time: From juggling work, personal relationships, hitting the gym and everything in between, it can be easy to skip that trip to the grocery store and opt for the quick/cheap fast food option. With delivery services, you pick a day during the week for your meals/groceries to be delivered and voila, they’re waiting for you at your door. No more excuses.

Healthier alternatives: While not every meal subscription service is “healthy,” many of them do offer clean options to choose from. If you’re wanting a meal kit that focuses on healthy meals, this everyplate vs dinnerly review might be helpful. It may be hard to kick start a better-for-you lifestyle, but if you commit to certain meals a week ahead of time when you’re feeling motivated, you’re pretty much stuck with eating them when they arrive. Sometimes it just takes a little push in the right direction.

Delicious! I kid you not, almost every meal subscription I have tried is consistently delicious, and the best part is they are opening your eyes to ingredients and recipes you’d otherwise probably never try or attempt to make on your own. So go ahead, be a little adventurous – I promise you won’t regret it!

Learn how to cook: If you’re like me, then you didn’t grow up in a household that prioritized gourmet homemade meals. Don’t get me wrong, we stuck to what we knew best – chicken parm, tacos, steak, pasta, etc. but definitely wouldn’t have called it a culinary kitchen. With subscription services, you’re literally learning preparation, technique and a little bit about ingredient background/culture. It’s a great way to get your “feet wet” if you’re intimidated by cooking. Trust me, if I can do it – so can you!

Hopefully I’ve convinced you to try a meal service or two, or three out, if you haven’t already. There’s a ton of different options out there and one that will certainly fit your taste and culinary level preferences. Dig in and do a little research, I promise you’ll find one that is right for you!
