Part II: The Infinite IFA

It’s safe to say that I conquered and survived my first IFA Annual Convention. The Fish crew headed up to Orlando on February 8 and kicked things off with some serious schmoozing and catching up with our clients who were also in attendance. The highlight of the weekend? Definitely, Simon Sinek and his infinite wisdom. If you’re not familiar, Simon Sinek, is the ultimate optimist and author of global best seller, Start With Why: How Great Leaders Inspire Everyone to Take Action. Sinek’s presentation gave us a deeper understanding of the workplace and how to be the leader we wish we had.

In his latest book, The Infinite Game, Sinek takes a deep dive into the difference between finite and infinite games and what it means to lead in the “Infinite Game.” Basically, businesses and organizations that struggle are usually a result of having a leader with a finite mindset in a game that has no end. Leaders who embrace an infinite mindset, are able to build stronger, more innovative and inspiring businesses and will outlast their competitors. If you haven’t heard of him, you should definitely watch one of his most popular TED Talks about inspiring great leadership, linked here.

After Sinek’s inspiring presentation that had all of us Fishies reexamining the way we live and go about our day-to-day lives, the crew cleaned up and we headed to our annual Fish cocktail party where we had a chance to mix and mingle with current and past clients and supplier partners. Overall, the entire weekend was a great learning experience and left me with a wealth of knowledge and new connections. Look forward to doing it all again next year!
