On the Road with Chicken Salad Chick

Chicks and Chick Magnets descended upon Atlanta, Georgia this month for what felt like more of a family reunion than a client conference. With 200 locations across the Southeast, this lively group of Chicken Salad Chick lovers met for their annual meeting to talk about the nitty gritty of spreading joy, enriching lives, and serving others.

Fellow Fishie Ashley Bennett and I attended the conference where we got to hear the brand’s executives share valuable insights about marketing, operations, management, and other tips for success. Following a challenging year for all restaurants, Chicken Salad Chick touted its resilience and thanked its franchise owners who had to pivot and get creative as the pandemic continued to impact business. They did community pop-ups, got on all delivery apps, focused their business on take-out, implemented curbside to-go, and so much more. With the support of leadership, Chicken Salad Chick not only survived, it thrived — and the brand has come out stronger and more successful as a result.

It was great to see franchisees and corporate team members eager to share how they “shined bright” with Chicken Salad Chick over the past year. And we even got to see former-Fishie-turned-franchisee Claibourne Rogers!

Ashley and I sat in on marketing breakout sessions where franchisees and their managers learned about grassroots ways to grow in their communities. We listened to the keynote speaker, Sarah Frey, who sat down for a fireside chat with Chicken Salad Chick CEO Scott Deviney. Frey is an American farmer and entrepreneur as CEO and owner of Frey Farms, which she founded at the age of 16 and has since grown it into a multi-million dollar conglomerate. From selling melons door-to-door as a kid, she has an inspirational story for all business owners.

As a die-hard Chicken Salad Chick fan, I loved getting a sneak peak at the brand’s holiday flavor. Since this is very top-secret Chicken Salad business — and if I told you I’d have to kill you — I’ll leave you with this: it’s a little bit sweet and a little bit spicy; the perfect flavor combo for any holiday event that I will be craving all year long!
