Office Perks Millennials Really Want

Fish has won countless “Best Places to Work” awards, and with good reason. Not to brag, but we’ve got creating an awesome work environment down to a science. As an office comprised of almost entirely millennials, our office perks are a direct reflection of the types of benefits almost everyone in our generation looks for from their job. Just about any employer can offer up the typical 401K plan, health benefits, etc. While those perks are certainly important, millennials are attracted to more out-of-the-box perks than previous generations are.

So, whether your business is taking the first steps to get health insurance for its employees and need to offer more perks or your business has been hiring more millennials and need to readjust your perks, here are a few examples of perks we’re lucky to enjoy at Fish (and the reasons all our friends are jealous of where we work).

  1. Take your dog to work day – everyday. There are countless studies showcasing how having pets around throughout the workday alleviates stress and anxiety. On any given day, walking into our office means you’ll be greeted by Abbie, Opus and Maddie – the three cutest dogs in the world!
  2. Casual dress code. Business casual is against our religion. Whoever thought that being productive required coming to work in a pencil skirt and heels was dead wrong. We prove that we’re equally capable of killing it when we’re in our Lululemons (although, Lorne does prefer that we put on actual pants for meetings with clients).
  3. Work from home. Technology has made it possible for anyone to work from anywhere. As long as every employee has a good broadband connection, there’s no reason why they couldn’t set up a home office (see more here) and work from there. However, if an employee doesn’t have a strong connection, they might have to consider visiting a website that allows them to compare broadband providers first. With a good connection to the internet, most employees are able to be productive at home. While being in the office is great and helps fuel collaboration, having the option to set up shop from home when you really need to focus is an amazing perk. Plus, thanks to virtual offices, staying in touch with your team remotely has never been easier. Accordingly, you can discover the benefits of using a virtual office by taking a look at some of the resources available on the Your Virtual Office London website here: https://yourvirtualofficelondon.co.uk/.
  4. Unlimited snacks. The only thing we love more than TV at Fish is food. From the unlimited snacks that are always available (shout out to Marisa for handling our insane Amazon Pantry orders) to the extensive cheese and wine spread we enjoy every Friday at happy hour, Lorne knows that the key to happy employees is making sure everyone avoids the dreaded ‘hangry’ (hungry + angry) mood. Furthermore, make sure that they are keeping hydrated throughout the day by hiring water boilers in London
and other places so that they can have tea, coffee, or any other hot drink to keep them working at a high quality throughout their working day.
  5. Team Bonding. Our holiday parties and summer fun day festivities are truly epic. Bill Clinton even joined the fun one year – true story. At Fish, we take work hard play hard very seriously, and know that there’s no better bonding experience than taking tequila shots as a team.
