As I start to write this blog, I’m still in shock. Today, at just 41 years old, Kobe Bryant was killed in a tragic helicopter crash along with his 13-year-old daughter Gianna. A five-time NBA champion, two-time NBA finals MVP, 18-time All Star and two-time Olympic gold medalist, Bryant is a true legend. He will forever be one of the greatest athletes this world has ever seen, and his black mamba legacy will live on.
Bryant’s 20 season stretch with the Lakers left a lasting impact on not only the sports community, but also on fellow teammates and players. Their tributes have been gut-wrenching; raw emotion that highlights nothing but true admiration.
Bryant may not have been able to say goodbye, but the speech he gave during his final NBA game now gives me chills. “This has been, this has been absolutely beautiful. I can’t believe it comes to an end. You guys have been absolutely, absolutely beautiful. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I love you guys. What can I say, Mamba out.”
