Keep Moving: A Daily Desk Challenge

Let’s bring up a common scenario for those of us at office jobs: Sit. Sit. Go get lunch. Sit sit sit. We need to move our body! A short walk, maybe a lil squat or simply a break. Or you could join me! The daily desk challenge is a routine that I’ve challenged my mom and myself to every week.

Day 1 Hydrate: This is your hydration day. Let’s rehydrate yourself from an amazing weekend.  Pick you 3 favorite water bottles and fill them up. Leave those on your desk and after each bottle, take a break. You’ll probably need a bathroom break anyways. Think first day is easy? Think again. You’re setting yourself up for a good week… and hopefully sticking to this habit for the rest of the challenge!

Day 2, Squats: Oh hi, squat challenge. Every other hour (or every hour) do a set of 15 squats. Add 5 squat to each rep for an additional challenge. Go!

Day 3, Push-ups: We need to pull back those hunch-back shoulders. Strengthen that back. Elongate that spine. Day 3 is a push-up challenge, my upper body strength is… low. SO I start off with 5 crunches for every break. Now I can do a set of 10! Do what works for your body.

Day 4, Crunches: Work those abs on day 4. Crunches are my mortal enemy, so maaaybe I pick another ab challenge.

Day 5, Cardio: Did we forget the point of this challenge was to move? Grab your bike, go for a jog, or keep it simple with a power walk. Get moving 🙂
