How to Support Small Businesses

The holidays may be over but that doesn’t mean small businesses across the country are in the clear. They’re still pushing to make ends meet each month. For almost a year now, business owners have been navigating the ups and downs of the pandemic and to this day, there’s still no clear end to this madness. That’s why, it’s crucial that we continue to support the mom and pop shops working tirelessly in our local communities and neighborhoods. Best part of all, you don’t have to spend hundreds of dollars to show your support. Here are a couple options to consider:

For restaurants that aren’t legally allowed to have indoor dining, try ordering takeout or delivery. While you may not have the same experience that you’d have when dining at the restaurant, you’re still able indulge in the delish food you know that restaurant is known for and support the restaurant owners and employees trying to survive these difficult times.

Take photos + promote on social. If you’ve ordered food or a new top from a local boutique, consider taking a photo of that item and posting it to Instagram or Facebook. Tag the local business and help spread the word among your followers on why they too should consider visiting or supporting this business.

Buy a gift card. There are a number of reasons why purchasing a gift card from a local business is a great idea. Gift cards typically don’t expire right away and you’re also able to pick and choose the amount you want to be added to the card that works for you and fits your budget.

These are just a few of the ways I’ve been contributing to boutiques, restaurants and bars in Fort Lauderdale since March 2020 and with things still up in the air on when this all will be resolved, I look forward to continuing to do this and more in the months to come.
