Four Tips for Successful Spring Cleaning

Here in Florida, we don’t have to deal with being stuck inside during the winter. Winter in Florida is glorious, gorgeous weather. Then comes Spring AKA hot and humid days that lead into a more hot and more humid summer. Knowing this won’t ever change, I typically tackle my spring cleaning in winter. But I’m late this year (owning a home is hard!) so my tips are also slightly delayed. Here are some of the best cleaning tips to apply to your weekly, monthly or annual cleaning routine, whenever it may be!

Cleaning the Shower

Deep cleaning your shower is awkward. You’re trying to use chemicals on your shower, not your clothes. My advice? Clean you shower/tub while you’re using it. All you need is your chosen chemical (hi, Clorox + Tylex) and a new scrub brush. Key word: New. Don’t use an old and grimy scrub brush to clean things. Hello pretty shower tiles and white grout lines! Oh yeah, when you’re done, you can also shower.

Spotless Pots and Pans

Give up the mantra of soaking your pots in the sink. It’s time to spring clean the heck out of those pots. Grab some baking soda, apple cider vinegar and water. Mix and boil until every bit of grime is GONE (well actually floats to the top) and voila! Clean pots.

Upgrade your Cleaning Tools

Please refer to cleaning the shower and apply the key word (NEW) to your cleaning tools. Stop using the same tools year after year. It’s gross and you deserve to treat yourself! The best hack of all may be a product with multiple features. Maybe a broom with a built-in vacuum? Go on, you deserve it.

Deep Clean Appliances

They work so hard for you on a daily basis! My washing machine is a champion. And we should treat it as such, with a good deep clean. Luckily, it’s simple for most appliances: add white distilled vinegar and run your washing machine or dish washer. It’s amazing! Don’t forget about your oven and toaster, they feed you! Most ovens have a self-clean or self-steam feature. Use it. Your food will thank you.
