February Fish Insights

We’re back with another edition of Fish Insights and, this month, I’m not sure what I’m more psyched about — that I can do a 10-week Pilates program at home without having to buy a reformer or that someone decided brightly colored sink basins are a hot new trend in bathroom décor. I just can’t decide! Either way, February’s Fish Insights is packed with (mostly) fun stories (sorry, retail) that will provide you with just the break you needed from all those Zoom calls.

Restaurants

  • Shake Shack just announced a collaboration series with chefs from around the country, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting nonprofits. (Food & Wine)
  • Olo, an online ordering platform, grew 94% in 2020 and has filed for a $100 million IPO. (Restaurant Business)
  • Here’s how Chick-fil-A is speeding up its massive (and already pretty fast, tbh) drive-thru lines. (Insider)

Travel & Hospitality

  • Quarantine-free travel? There’s an app for that, obviously. (CNN Travel)
  • Airbnb will report its first earnings since going public on Feb. 24. Here’s what it could mean for the travel industry. (MarketWatch)

Fitness, Health, & Wellness

  • The Sweat app is now offering a 10-week, at-home, equipment-free Pilates program. All you need is a mat. (Sign me up!) (POPSUGAR)
  • Sticking with the no-equipment-needed trend, here’s a 30-minute, full-body kickboxing workout you can do right now. (com)
  • We went ahead and downloaded Club Industry’s 2021 fitness trend report, so you didn’t have to. (Club Industry)

Retail

  • Macy’s posted a net loss of $3.9 billion over the last year — compared to a $564 million profit the year before. (The New York Times)
  • A recent report estimates that 10,000 retail stores will close in 2021. (UPI)

Beauty

  • Here’s a look inside Urban Decay’s TikTok campaign for Black History Month. (Glossy)
  • Here’s what you need to know about the latest beauty trend called “slugging.” (Bustle)
  • “Skinimalism” is a new approach to skincare that means fewer products — and I am totally here for it. (Shape)
