Brand Activation / PR Stunt: Mr. Rooter

The only way to get people talking about a plumbing company and the bathroom is to embrace the awkward subject nature and just let it flow. That’s why we created “Mr. Rooter’s Bathroom Astrology,” a tongue-in-cheek campaign that correlated bathroom habits to each zodiac sign. Coverage appeared on the TODAY Show and People.com, among other outlets.

    Fish developed a consumer media relations strategy that positioned Mr. Rooter Plumbing executives, franchisees, and technicians as experts in the field through a series of creative, out-of-the-box consumer media angles. Most recently, we created what became known as “Mr. Rooter’s Bathroom Astrology,” and outlined what each zodiac sign says about a person’s personality in an infographic, with findings from our own research. By capitalizing on the company’s areas of expertise and leveraging the tongue-in-cheek nature of the plumbing industry, Fish has been able to generate several national media placements.

  • Results

    Fish has secured numerous placements across national consumer and trade outlets including an on-air segment on the TODAY show and coverage with Today.com, Thrillist, Elite Daily, HuffPost, USA Today, People, Good Housekeeping, Fox News, CBS News, AOL, and Entrepreneur, among others. Additionally, Fish has generated traction in local markets, with franchisees appearing on local television morning shows such as Good Day Baltimore and Good Morning Washington.
